Parrish, Florida, welcomed a fantastic new addition to its community in March—Parrish Community Park, located just off Fort Hamer Road, south of Erie Road near Parrish Community High School. With its grand opening happening over the weekend on March 6th, this park promises to be a hub of outdoor activities, family fun, and community gatherings. A Community Gem: Features and Amenities
Parrish Community Park is designed to offer something for everyone, from toddlers to fitness enthusiasts. Phase 1 of the project introduces a variety of amenities, including:
- Two shaded playgrounds: The park features two distinct playground areas tailored to different age groups. There’s a vibrant, engaging play area designed for toddlers aged 2-5 years. Additionally, a larger, more adventurous playground for children aged 5-12 years. Both areas are shaded to keep kids cool as they play.
- Play mound with slides and spinning play structures: For even more fun, the park includes a play mound. This mound is covered in soft, artificial turf with two exciting slides and a range of spinning play structures.
- 4,700 sq. ft. splash pad: The splash pad is a highlight for kids of all ages. It includes a SuperSplash dumping bucket, two opposing tube cannons for competitive spray play, and a toddler zone with more gentle water features. The splash pad equipment features a fun red, white, and blue patriotic theme.
- Walking trails and fitness stations: For those looking to stay active, the park offers walking trails and 20 fitness stations equipped with workout equipment. It’s a great way to combine fitness with fresh air and scenic surroundings.
- Boardwalk in wetland: The park also features a boardwalk through the wetland, providing a peaceful setting to enjoy nature.
- Performance pavilion: The large shaded performance pavilion offers a spacious 120′ by 120′ area with terraced seating, perfect for festivals, plays, and community events. This versatile venue will become the center for all kinds of activities in the Parrish community.
- Festival grounds: Behind the pavilion, the festival grounds offer ample space for tents and events, complete with electrical hookups for vendors.
Upcoming Enhancements: Phase 2
While Phase 1 offers plenty of exciting features, Phase 2 of the project will further enhance the park with additional recreational spaces and amenities. These include:
- Multi-use fields for sports and community events
- Dog park for four-legged family members to enjoy
- Additional fitness and recreational stations to further expand the park’s offerings
